Pay at table, and everyone pays their share
Paying at the table removes the walk to the till and the wait for the card machine: the guest scans, pays their share from their phone and gets up. Split evenly, which is the normal case, or by dish. A shared plate is divided between whoever shared it, and the table stays open until the last person pays.

The moment that costs more time than any other

Equal shares by default, by dish when it matters
Splitting evenly is one tap: the bill is divided between the guests connected to the table and each sees their amount. It is what ninety per cent of tables do.
Anyone who wants to pay only for their own picks their dishes. And if three people shared a board, the board is split between those three: it does not land whole on whoever ordered it.

Nobody pays for the same thing twice
That is the obvious risk of letting several people pay at once, and it is solved on the server: while someone has a payment in progress on a dish, that dish is locked for everyone else.
If the payment fails or is abandoned, the lock releases itself. And amounts are always recalculated on the server: what arrives from a phone never decides what gets charged.
Cash and phone coexist on the same table
One person paying from their phone does not commit the rest. Staff take cash or card for whatever share needs it and the table discounts it just the same: both routes add up against the same bill.
A full invoice with a tax number can also be requested from the phone, without calling anyone over.
Frequently asked questions
Does the table close when somebody pays?
No. The table stays open until everything is paid. Whoever has paid can leave, and the rest can carry on ordering: whatever they order after goes on the same bill.
What if one of them wants to pay cash?
You take it as always. Staff record the cash payment and that share is settled; the others can still pay from their phones.
Can somebody pay too much or too little by mistake?
No. The server checks that nobody pays for units already covered by another payment, in progress or completed. If two people try to pay for the same dish at once, the second one gets a message rather than a charge.
Do you prompt for tips?
No. In Spain tipping is not the custom and prompting on screen makes guests uncomfortable. They can leave one, but Ordeli neither suggests it nor ticks it by default. In Catalonia there is a rule behind this too: a compulsory tip is treated as an unfair practice.
Can somebody pay after they have left the table?
Yes. They still have the table open on their phone and can pay their share from wherever they are. That is the usual case when one person has to leave before the rest.
What if somebody pays and then the table orders more?
Nothing breaks: the table stays open and the new items are added to what is left to pay. What has already been paid is not touched or recalculated.
