TicketBAI for bars and restaurants

TicketBAI requires businesses in the Basque Country to give every receipt an identifying code, a QR and a signature chaining it to the previous one, and to send it to their provincial tax authority. Ordeli implements it out of the box, chaining and automatic resending included.

No card. TicketBAI and VeriFactu included in every plan.

Registered software, not a workaround

The program must be declared to your provincial tax authority. Using one that is not exposes you to penalties even when the failure is your supplier's.

It resends itself

If the network drops or the tax authority does not answer, the record stays signed and queued. The connection returns and it goes out without anyone remembering.

One group, two regimes

A venue in Bilbao and another in Madrid live in the same account: TicketBAI on one, VeriFactu on the other, each with its own certificate.

What TicketBAI requires from you

That your billing software signs every invoice or receipt, chains it to the previous one and sends it to the provincial tax authority you report to. The customer gets a receipt with a TBAI code and a QR they can check it with.

It is not the same as VeriFactu, although both are after the same thing: TicketBAI came first, it is provincial, and it does require submission, whereas VeriFactu lets you choose between submitting and keeping the records.

  • Every receipt carries a TBAI code and a verifiable QR code.
  • Records are chained: if one is missing, it shows.
  • Submission goes to your provincial authority, not to the national one.
  • The software must appear on the register of guarantor software.

Each province moved at its own pace, and that is the confusing part

Each provincial council set its own timetable, and that is the main source of confusion. Alava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa approved different calendars by sector and turnover, with hospitality entering in successive phases.

If you have a venue in the Basque Country and are not compliant yet, the prudent assumption is that it already applies to you, and to confirm it with your accountant: the general deadlines have passed in all three provinces.

Venues inside and outside: do not run two systems

This is the case that causes the most trouble and that most POS systems handle worst. A group with a venue in Bilbao and another in Madrid needs TicketBAI in the first and VeriFactu in the second, each with its own certificate and its own chain.

In Ordeli each venue in the group carries its own tax configuration, with its own certificate and independent numbering. There is no need to run two systems or duplicate the admin.

TicketBAI in Ordeli, province by province

The POS creates the TicketBAI record at the moment of payment and signs it with the venue certificate. If submission fails — a network drop or the tax authority being down — the record queues up and resends itself.

  • TBAI code and QR on the printed and the digital receipt.
  • Venue certificate encrypted at rest, uploaded from the admin panel.
  • Automatic resending of pending records.
  • Per-venue configuration: TicketBAI in some, VeriFactu in others.

Frequently asked questions

Does TicketBAI replace VeriFactu?

No. They coexist. TicketBAI applies in the Basque Country by province; VeriFactu is the national rule. A Basque venue complies with TicketBAI, one in the rest of Spain with VeriFactu, and a group with venues in both needs the two.

Do I need a digital certificate for each venue?

Yes. The signature is tied to the entity running the business, so each venue supplies its own. In Ordeli you upload it from the panel and it is stored encrypted.

What happens if the internet drops mid-service?

Payments keep working and the record stays signed and queued. When the connection comes back it resends itself, with nobody having to remember.

Will any POS system do for TicketBAI?

No. The software must be declared as guarantor software to the provincial tax authority. Using one that is not exposes the operator to penalties, even though the program is a third party's.

My venue is in Navarre. Does TicketBAI apply to me?

No. TicketBAI belongs to the three Basque provinces: Alava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. Navarre has its own regional tax regime and its own system, different from this one and from VeriFactu.

Can I use the same certificate in two venues?

Only if the entity running the business is the same. The signature is tied to that entity, so two different companies need two certificates even within the same group.
